Dr. MichaÅ‚ Kucewicz was born in 1986 in GdaÅ„sk. In 2005, he completed the International Baccalaureate at "Topolówka" (III Secondary School) in GdaÅ„sk. Thanks to the scholarship GD Fahrenheit went to the UK to study neuroscience. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Cambridge University, and his PhD from the University of Bristol, specializing in the electrophysiology of memory and cognitive functions of the brain. His doctoral dissertation concerned the mechanisms of working memory studied at the level of electrical activity of neural networks. After his doctorate, he continued his research on memory at the American Mayo Clinic, working with invasive recordings in epilepsy patients. In 2018, he returned to Poland and founded the Brain and Mind Electrophysiology laboratory at the Department of Multimedia Systems, Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Computer Science, GdaÅ„sk University of Technology. His projects develop technologies for electrical brain stimulation to improve memory in patients with epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases.
